Chicago's third tallest building St. Regis photographed by Paul CLEMENCE. Formerly the Vista Tower and later St. Regis, the building has 101 floors. The tower consists of three sequential and combined volumes. It has a strong connection with the river in front of it and contributes to public spaces. It draws attention with its approaches in design, its connection with the public space, and its structure that renews the city silhouette. Let's take a closer look at the St. Regis Tower with photos from the eyes of the famous photographer and artist Paul CLEMENCE.

St. Regis is located between the Chicago Riverwalk and Lakeshore East Park. Studio Gang, who designed the building, took care not to interrupt the circulation of citizens between two areas with the structure of the tower rising from the ground. For this, the middle part of the building is completely raised from the ground. To reach the park, which is located around the St. Regis Tower, it is possible to reach the park by passing under the building rather than walking around the building. Thus, the building, which was disconnected from the ground, did not prevent the public space around it from being visited. For this realization, innovative methods were used to construct this part of the tower.

St. Regis Tower rises in the sky with a dynamic rhythm with its structure has a different form than ordinary skyscrapers. This dynamic architectural design is shaped by the repetition of a certain main module. Each main module resembles a truncated pyramid shape. As seen in Paul CLEMENCE's photographs, the geometry of the building other than the usual rectangular form has affected the rate of sunlight exposure. Due to the form of the tower, the facade surface area has expanded and the air circulation in the building has reached the optimum level.

St. Regis tower serves functions including 5-star hotel residences, restaurants, and social areas. One of the three separate volumes of the building is a hotel with 191 rooms, and there are 393 apartments on the floors in the other volumes. Also, the Alinea Group, one of the best restaurants in the world, took its place in this project. In addition, the upper floors of the building rise gradually and serve as a terrace garden. The terraces have been quite remarkable with the green areas created in the tower.

Another striking element reflected in Paul CLEMENCE's photographs is that the facade is entirely transparent and has a gradient structure. The glass-clad facade is used and preferred in different colors to benefit from solar energy. While more transparent glasses are preferred at the widest ground level of the tower, darker glasses are preferred at the lowest elevations.

St. Regis tower, which opened in 2021, is awarded 2022. It won the Excellence Award for Best Tall Building in the range of 300-399 meters, given by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
