Refik ANADOL

“Refik ANADOL” is one of the names that have become the focus of attention of art lovers these days, when digital productions are beginning to take more place in the art world.

Briefly “Refik ANADOL”

He was born in 1985 in Istanbul and graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University. He started his education with a double major from the Department of Photography and Media and Graphic Design and Communication. He produced his first work in his graduation project (The graduation project "The graduation project "Uncharted: Haritasız Dergi," Bilgi University (2009) projected on the façade of Santral Istanbul, designed by EAA.). This project can be considered the starting point of the current projects.  ANADOL went after his undergraduate education completed to his master's degree at UCLA Design and Media Arts Department in the USA and he currently teaches at UCLA as a lecturer.

His understanding of art defines as post-digital architecture aims to present alternative realities in interior and exterior architecture itself and its elements are redefined. To achieve this, he carries out productions that invite the observing of the unseen by using the existing photographic archives. He also stated the following in an interview: ''Everything started with the question, 'Can projections move a building beyond its architectural design?''.

ANADOL has great goals while his graduate education, wanted to communicate with the people he wanted to work with at that time in order to revive his dream, but this dream was possible with an elevator presentation he attended. In the speech organized by Microsoft to enable new identities, Refik ANADOL's aims were awarded and the way to his dreams was opened with the presence of Bill Gates in that speech. Another breaking point in the art life of ANADOL, which continues to work on public works of art, was the master of deconstructivism in architecture Frank Gehry. He gave life to the facade of Walt Disney Concert Hall, as in the movie Blade Runner. Although their work is generally perceived as similar in principle and shape and includes many layers from projection technologies to artificial intelligence algorithms and large-scale data but the inspiration that reveals it develops specific to that project.
