The architecture that surrounds us has recently started to surround our minds as well. Architects create creative spaces by meeting the structural functions in the most accurate way, they are now also designing spaces in the virtual universe. How Does? Let's take a look at it in this week's topic.

Briefly, What is Metaverse?
We will briefly touch on the Metaverse, which we have explained in detail in our previous article "Architecture of the Future: Metaverse". Metaverse suddenly became the centre of attention after Facebook Inc. changed its name to Meta in 2021. Contrary to popular belief, the metaverse is not a new existence, it has appeared in games for a long time. Metaverse is another branch of virtual games, that most of us know like Sims and Minecraft. It is planned that the person will create an identity with an avatar that they have determined for themselves and reach the promised creative experiences in this new world.

What Meta wants to do is to offer a place in this new world to the number of users it has and more. In order to provide this infrastructure, the company completely purchased Oculus, which is a sub-brand that produces virtual reality (VR Glasses and Applications) tools, in 2014. With the year 2022, the opening of stores in Metaverse promotion of creations and the realization of virtual concerts, Metaverse has become a subject that attracts everyone's attention.

For many years, the stakeholders of the building sector, especially architects and engineers have controlled the course of the construction. In order to prevent the built environment confusion in the physical world, regulations were introduced from the city scale to the building scale. In contrast, the metaverse removes such restrictive regulations for designers. It offers designers and those interested in design the opportunity to build the world they want. The fact that it offers wider design opportunities compared to the physical world allows designers to push the creative boundaries.

Opportunities for Architects
The Metaverse is free from the constraints of the physical world. Offering freedom of design that mean revealing projects where creativity is at the forefront. Considering that it will be a platform where there will be much more presence in the future, we can say that a new economic system awaits us, where people will spend to experiencing different and creative worlds.

Architects who are competent in designing spaces that are creative and appealing to the soul are actually familiar with this world of Metaverse. Before the implementation of the projects in which the pre-construction is made, the building modelling software has a similar working principle. For this reason, known for its bold designs and heading toward new workspaces architectural office Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has started working on some virtual projects for its clients. They have developed a presentation platform for reviewing, collaborating and selling ideas, offering the opportunity to experience futuristic spaces. They collaborated with UNStudio to create the virtual platform called "SpaceForm". Currently, it collaborates with many companies and continues to offer users the opportunity to experience cloud projects simultaneously.
