About Renzo PIANO
Renzo PIANO, who designed the new building of the Istanbul Modern Museum and is one of the most important names in contemporary architecture, was born in Italy in 1937. Following in the footsteps of his family with a builder background, Renzo PIANO graduated from the Politecnico di Milano and got experience for a while in Italy. Having the opportunity to gain experience in London and Philadelphia after his university education, PIANO was greatly influenced by Jean Prouvé's understanding of architecture, while he was working in London.

“İstanbul Modern” will be a part of the coastal line renewal project, which includes many functions (coastal, transportation, tourism, trade). The building is designed to have a total of 5 floors and is planned to have 3 floors above ground and the other 2 floors below ground. The ground floor, which removes the obstacles between the quay and the road, will offer an uninterrupted view with its open and transparent floor heights. The building has a total construction area of 15,000 m² and will not only open its doors as a museum but will also host an exploration area project in collaboration with the Center Pompidou from Paris.

Facade Design
The museum has a view of the Bosphorus and has many design concepts that embrace the view. With the landscaped terrace, future visitors will enjoy the Bosphorus view from different elevations while exploring the exhibition. In addition, the metal facade is in a way that refers to the past function of the project area, the old port area. The reflective metal facade will reflect the vitality of daylight with the representation of fish scales and share the beauty of the Bosphorus at different times of the day.

The fact that Istanbul's new attraction point, "İstanbul Modern," is by the sea also necessitated finding solutions that balance the seismic effects. Otherwise, the central seawater power plant and the systems that will enable the heating and cooling of the building are used in the project.

Interior Design
The uniquely designed products of ASPEN - Interior Solutions will meet with the original architecture and will be included in the project with three different products. With [Targa] Raised Floor systems, it will take place in flooring with trust, quality, and technology. [Sepera Move] will offer dynamic solutions by keeping up with the dynamic structure of the offices that will serve the museum and its visitors with its Movable Partition Wall systems. Lastly, [Integra] will add spatial integrity to the museum by decoratively hiding the crowded installation lines on the ceiling of the interior with Metal Suspended Ceiling and Wall systems.
