Innovation centers are areas where technology is used in the best way and innovative solutions are developed. Developed innovation studies contribute to society in technology and science, they offer solutions that facilitate nature and human life.  This week's blog post will examine the Bolidt Innovation Center in the Netherlands, which is also our reference project. We will look at the project's architectural design details which innovative developments realized in the fields of security, hygiene, data, agriculture, sustainability, and energy.

About Bolidt Innovation Center

Bolidt is a Netherlands-based company that manufactures flooring systems for construction. The company's project, which was completed in 2019, made innovation and went on the path to promoting its products in a different way. They developed the idea of making their visitors experience how their products are produced in an innovative way. They undersigned a project where employees and visitors of the company can experience the space with interactive participation, explore the chemical production processes, and reference projects in which Bolidt is involved in a new way.

Design and Features

The design of the innovative experience center project belongs to Luchinger Architects. The project has a total area of 10,000 m². The design team of the Bolidt Innovation Center project describes the project as a "living laboratory" which is an area that focuses on chemistry studies. In this project, the design team developed many innovative solutions, and  ASPEN's products, which include innovative products, were preferred and harmony was achieved in the project concept. Niels de Jong, the lead designer of the project, describes the process as follows: "Even the collaboration was complete chemistry, everything came together for this project."

In the project, the chemical laboratory areas were stripped of the opaque walls and transformed into an open-source library where visitors can also be included. In the building, which has become a great experience center, common symbols have been determined to guide the visitors. In this way, routes were created to guide visitors. Also, ASPEN took part in the Bolidt Innovation Center with the "Integra Expanded Hook-on Corridor Panels". This system has been perfectly adapted to the interior with a different design structure.

The Integra Expanded Hook-on Corridor panels have contributed to a better perception of the color directive used on the floor of the interior space where company employees and visitors are together. The panels, which can be produced in different sizes, are in perfect harmony with the lighting channels. The fact that the lighting channels can be penetrable on the panel has provided more effective illumination of the interior, allowing the color concept of the project to be perceived more easily. The black color was preferred for this project of ASPEN panels that can be produced in different colors. The black color added depth to the interior atmosphere and made the graphic concept stand out in the project with a rational method.
